A special birthday card

I made this card for my best buddy Pam, whos birthday was on Monday.
Guess wot! I forgot to post it. DOH!!

BUT!!!! We're off to Hampshire today to visit a very dear friend, ISSY, so I can give Pam her card when she gets here.!  While we are there, we'll be visiting the Make It Show at Farnborough. OH I can't WAIT! I'm dying to see Issy again and of course, we all can't get to the show quick enough, to look at and buy, loads of lovely new goodies, plus another good friend, Val will be calling in on us at Issy's on Sunday. Val lives in London which is only a train ride away, so we will be having a whale of a time I'm sure.
Anyone else going?  It's a lovely show that doesn't get too crowded and hot like the NEC one. Yak!
We will be gone until Monday evening and hopefully I'll have a photo or two to show you when I get sorted.

Monday the 1st March means a new challnge at Cards For Men and I've sheduled my post all ready.
Please drop by and see what you make of it. ;0)
Well, by the time you read this, we  will be almost on our way to Subway for our ritual breakfast, that we treat ourselves to before we go down the M6! LOL
Thanks for calling by and  I'll no doubt 'see' you Tuesday!

Peachy Keen Challenge #23

Hya everyone! Yep! It's that time again. Another super challenge from Peachy Keen to get you thinking!
This time it's a recipe. ...
  • Must contain the colours green and yellow
  • Must have a 3D element on the project
  • (This could be the image popped out, or an embellishment)
  • Must contain a stamped image
 Easy Peasy!

I love this cute stamp. It's one of the stamps in the new 'PK-270 Faceless veggies one' set.
(It'd be perfect for anyone having, or have had, triplets)!!
I added little faces from the 'PK-560 Dolly Dumplins Face assortment'.  Cute or what!
(It's hard to tell, but I've layered the lip on the front of the pea pod). I've also quilled a couple of tendrils to mimic those on a pea plant. (Think I should have done them in green, but never mind).
Made some simple flowers with a Kiku punch and some punched leaves as an extra 3D embellishment.
The DP is Papermania and the base CS is Bazzil. I made up the sentiment, printed it on my PC and punched it out with a SU tag punch. Voila!
I hope you like it.
Pop over the Peachy Keen blog and feast your eyes on the fantastic projects the other DT girls have created and while you're there, why not join in with our challenge? You could win yourself a $25 gift code.
good luck!

Golden wedding and 100th birthday

Nope, I haven't emigrated, I've been a busy bee! I did my Cards for Men sample card, a Golden Wedding Anniversary card and a 100th Birthday card up to now this week and it's only Tuesday!! Wow!
I've gone from famine to feast in one fell swoop. Dunno how long it will last, so I'd better make hay while the sun (nearly) shines.

This is a card I made for hubby's brother and wife for their golden wedding annivesary....

I was tinkering with it for ages, when the postman arrived with a package from the US. It was my latest JustRite stamping set. Whoo hoo! Talk about in the nick of time!
It was a bit of a faff slotting  the little letters in the grooves. (It reminded me of my brother's old John Bull printing set). Once I got the hang of it, it was easy peasy and I love the results. So personal.
I embossed the white card with a Sizzix embossing plate. The letters and numbers and border, were stamped using Versamark and embossed with Detail Gold embossing powder.
The two scrolls are from a (I think), Quickutz die, cut out of gold mirri card.

This next card has been commissioned for a friend of ours for a lady on her 100th birthday.

It's pretty self-explanatory. I'll put the ingredients in the labels box.
(The flower centre is a JustRite one and the butterfly is a peel-off stuck to vellum and cut out).

It's Challenge #4 at Cards For Men!

Where DOES the time go? It doesn't seem like 5 mins since I posted my last sample for Cards For Men.

The challenge this time is to use the colour GREEN in your project. Any theme, any design, as long as the main colour is green. Our sponsor is the very talented Claire of  HopeJacare. Her digital images are beautiful. Whimsical and suitable for any occasion. Please pop on over to her shop and see for yourself. You will be spoilt for choice.

For my sample, I used the beautiful digi image...Birds In A Tree.

I think this card is very adaptable. It could be a comfort' card, Father's Day card, inspirational card, or a birthday card. Isn't that tree beautiful! I re-sized it to fit a 5" x 7" card landscape.
The CS base is by SU and that gorgeous DP is from MME and I can't find the pad it comes in anywhere!
(I'm off to the Make It show at Farnborough next week so hopefully, I'll find it there).

The prize for this challenge is 3 digi images of your choice from the beautiful  HopeJacare collection.
The challenge is open until midnight GMT on the 28th February 2010 and the rules are as follows...

1. The card must be for a man/boy.
2. You need to follow the theme/sketch that is set.
3. It must be a new card.
Please leave your name and a direct link to your entry (not just to your blog) in Mr Linky below.
If Mr Linky is not there for some reason, please leave the details in the comments.
Need inspiration? Look no further than the other Design Team members' cards over at Cards For Men.
They are FABULOUS!!!

Peachy Keen Challenge #22

Hya ladies. It's time for another fabulous Peachy Keen challenge.
I decided to give my Copics a rest for this card and used Crayola pencils and Sansador instead.
(I'd practically forgotten how to as it's been so long since I used them).
The colours are  lot richer than I can reproduce with my camera. It just WON'T show true colours. Arghh!!
Oh well, moan over, onwards and upwards as they say.
This week's challenge is a sketch. (I LOVE sketches).
How great is THAT! Wonderful stuff!

Here's what I did with it.......

I just got my latest order fromSU so used some of the fabulous DP for this card.
Don't you just LOVE that stamp! It's PK-402 Mistletoe Twist.
(It's actually a Christmas stamp, but I didn't ink his hand with the mistletoe in it and now it's a cute Valentine's card).
I used white peel-offs for the message. I can't remember the last time I used a peel-off!
It's actually two put together. Don't tell anyone.
The ribbon is SU and the flowers are from Papermania.
The 'leaves' are made with a McGill punch called 'Pine'.

Now you've seen the sketch and my sample, why not pop on over to the Peachy Keen blog and take a look at the amazing samples made by the other fabulous DT members.
While you're there, you can get all the details for joining in with our challenges and news of the wonderful prize Peachy Keen has to offer the lucky winner.

Thanks for calling by, I appreciate it so much.

I made more!!!

Do you remember the purse and little cards I made here?
Well I made 6 more for my friends at a SU party hosted at Pauline's house on Sunday.
(I shall make more for my friends that couldn't make it).
There was an extra person, Liz, a lovely lady who's also a  Derby Dabbler. I didn't know she would be there, so made her a set during the day. Silly me didn't take a picture of it though, so can't show you that one and it was gorgeous! Slapped wrist for me.
Pauline is fabulous, but her hubby Rob, is a diamond. He's SO sociable and the best maker of a cuppa I've come across. He kept us topped up with tea and coffee the whole day.
We made two lovely cards thanks to Tracey our gud bud and SU demo.
(which are still in my tote bag so can't show you yet doh)!
I CAN show you the purses I made though and there's five so you might want to pull up a pew LOL

(Pam gave me strict instructions that she was having the Peachy Keen one, or there would have been 7).

I had a great time making them and I am on the hunt for more projects now.

Thanks for taking the time to visit.

Cards For Men Challenge #3

It's time for another Cards For Men challenge already! Where DOES the time go!
Th challenges are now every two weeks instead of monthly which is wonderful.
Cards For Men's third challenge is a sketch. I love sketches.
Half the work is done for you when you don't have to think about a layout.

Here's the sketch (there is an optional theme of  Love/Valentine).
 And here's my card.......

The image is coloured with Copics and is a SU stamp from the set 'For Father', using MME DP and Nestie circles to frame the image. I added three brads for balance.
Sponged with Tim Holtz distress inks.'Tea Dye'.

Most men don't do 'lovely dovey' cards, so I came up with this sentiment and thought it would fit most men's idea of a love or valentine card . You know I'm right! LOL

Here are the guidelines
1. The card must be for a man/boy.
2. You need to follow the theme/sketch that is set.
3. It must be a new card.

You are free to combine challenges with other blogs.
The challenge will close on the 14th February 2010 at midnight GMT.

The challenge is sponsored by Donna's Den and Donna has donated this fabulous prize....
It is a 'No Scissors Required Die Cut Decoupage' book, which contains 8 sheets of die-cut decoupage, 3 sheets of pop-out captions and 8 sheets of craft board.

The other DT girls have come up trumps with the challenge.
Please pop on over to the Cards For Men blog to see their fab samples and to have a bash at the challenge.
We have now got the Mr. Linky gadget up and running now, making it a lot easier to post your entries.

Have fun and good luck!
