I should be in bed

Instead I'm on here! I need to get a grip! LOL

Well I might not have time to get on here tomorrow, got a busy day out of the house.
Gotta take one my D-i-L and new grand daughter for a check up at the surgery tomorrow morning.
(Think it's the 6 week check, seeing as she's 6 weeks now).
Alan has the Warfarin clinic at the same time, I have to go to Mum's 'coz she wants some stuff, then the rest of the day's my own. All one hour of it! LOL
Anyway, here's an extra card I did for Oscar's 4th birthday. (I forgot I'd made that one with the skateboard)! Doh! Ha Ha

I wrote that it was from my Mum, 'coz she has given up sending cards now. It's too much hassle for her.
It qualifies as a 'Cards for Men' card too, 'coz it's for a boy.

Well, I'd better get to bed or baby won't be getting to the clinic and it'll take me 20 minutes to get across town to go and pick them up, as Macclesfield is grid-locked at rush hour! The appointment is 9.30am!!!

Don't forget! Cards for Men starts it's first challenge on 1st December!

Here's a picture of Harvey...

It's hard work getting a decent picture of him as he won't pose properly at all.
I finally got this reasonable one after deleting about 20 rubbish ones.

He's got a really shifty look on his face here! Ha Ha!
That's one of my two cats Smokey, sitting with him.
He does look guilty, doesn't he!

Most of the time he's making the cat's lives a misery.

All my pals love him to bits. He's SO cute.
Issy is all for kidnapping him! Yeah right.

Hope you like my fur-baby and if you see me on SCS as Harvey's Mum, you know who Harvey is now!

Thank you Clare....

Clare has honoured me with this lovely award, I'm deeply flattered.

I would like to pass this on to all the brilliant ladies that visit me and leave such lovely comments,
even though I'm a naughty blogger, as a lot are still waiting for me to return the favour! *sigh*.
(I'm rubbish at time management lately).

Thank you again Clare! You are a STAR!

Wednesday 25 November 2009

Three at once again.

I made these last Sunday when we had a crafting day at Jackie's. (If you visit her blog, you'll see how excited she was) Ha Ha.
Had a brilliant day with some, sadly not all of my dear friends. (Some live too far away to meet up with regularly, which is a shame).
We were dined and dined, not wined, 'coz we were driving. LOL The food was scrummy, the company 1st class and the ritual trip to the craft shop expensive! Don't care, it was well worth it. Ha Ha.

Here we are then. My quick and easy three cards.

They are all pretty self-explanatory except the last one. I made the scene with elements from a stamp set called 'Winter trees' from Stampendous.
I got the idea for the scene from watching a video made by the uber talented Sandy Hulsart.
It's the first one of her videos in the left hand column of her blog.
(Alternatively, you can see it on You Tube, HERE).
Mine is nowhere near as good as hers, but I was trying to remember as I was at Jackie's and couldn't access Sandy's blog. Not too bad for a guess, I reckon.

I have to fly as I am taking Mum Christmas shopping today. As she's 91 almost, that could take a while.
Thanks for your visit. As always ,it's lovely to see you and I'll return the favour just as soon as I get 5 mins to myself. Have a great day!

Monday 23 November 2009

Happy Birthday Alan!

It's hubby's birthday today and he's always saying 'when I was a lad', so I've made him a card that's ALMOST his era!!! Ha Ha.
He was born in 1938, so it's not TOO far out!  Yep! He's 71 today! Happy birthday Love!
I've used the sketch on Crazy 4 Challenges #12

I sponged everything with Tim Holtz 'Tea Dye' distress ink.
The 'Newsprint' is a piece of 12x12 DP from Monk's Den craft shop. Wish I'd got more now 'coz I like it a lot! VERY 1930's which suits that digital image a treat! That's from Digital Two for Tuesday.
I made up the sentiment and printed it off the PC.
The mount was done using a Nestability label die. (Can't think which one it's called now).
The Basic CS was picked up at the Papyr Box in Somerset, while we were on holiday.
I tarted the corner up a bit with a scroll that looked quite 30's and put two brads on the sentiment for the hell of it.
(I've since, stamped 'happy birthday in the blank column on the 'newspaper').

Hope you like my bit of nostalgia. Thanks for stopping by and I hope to catch up with you soon.

Peachy Keen Challenge No.16

Welcome to the latest Peachy Keen Challenge!
This time, you have to Create something with Peachy Keen Stamp faces... any face, any size on anything you fancy.
It could be a card, an ornament, an altered item, ANYTHING! As long as you use a PK face.
(I've got little or no imagination, so stayed with a card). LOL

I used one of the faces from PK-163 Dolly Dumplins. So so cute!
I Glittered her up with Glamour Dust after dusting her 'arms' with SU's Bashful Blue ink.
Matted onto white card, 'dusted' with SU Bashful Blue ink, embossed with the Cuttlebug Fleur-de-lis embossing folder and then onto silver mirri card.
The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards and the card itself is a part of a ready to go assortment box from DCWV.
I stamped some snowflakes onto it with Brilliance 'Moonlight White', to tie it together.
The snowflake is from the set PK-19, 'What's so funny'. It was the perfect size.

We would love you to play along with our challenges at Peachy Keen and there is a super prize for one lucky entrant......
For every entry over 20, Kathy will add another $1 to a $20 gift certificate to spend in the Peachy Keen Stamp store! That means that if we get 37 entries, the prize will be a $37 gift certificate. If we get 100 entries, the prize will be $100 gift certificate! WOW!!!

The winner will be drawn on 30th November and will be announced on the 1st December when the new challenge is posted.
(Please post your entries using Mr Linky as this helps us to find you easily).
I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

As it's also Mercy's Tuesday sketch challenge today, I thought I'd throw in an extra sample card by moving the elements around a little to fit her sketch. Here is the result.......
Two for the price of one eh!

Have a fabulous day!

MTSC48

It's that time of the week again folks! Boy oh boy, the weeks are flying by now!
Well, here it is.... my penultimate card as Guest Muse for Mercy's awesome challenges!
Only one more left to do before I hand over to the December Guest Muse.

This is your sketch ...... They are almost a card in themselves!! Amazing!

Here is what I came up with......

I really wanted to do white and gold and the sketch was just the job for it!

The tree is a Hero Arts stamp that I embossed with detail gold. The panel behind it was embossed with a Sizzix embossing plate. The flourishes are Spellbinders and the gold sprigs are from my EK Success punch.
I layered the white card with gold mirri board.
The little greetings tag is from Craftwork Cards.

I hope you like it and will play along with Mercy's sketch challenge again this week.
Please link your project on Mercy's blog using the Mr. Linky facility. This makes it easy for us to visit you and see what you've created.
If you upload to a gallery, e.g. SCS or Papercraft Planet to name but two, please use the keyword MTSC48.
Please stop by the DT blogs and give them some love. You will LOVE what they have come up with!
AWESOME girls, every one of 'em!

Rememberence Sunday

'They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them..'

In memory of all those who have fought and died for our freedom.

For all the servicemen who are bravely carrying on to defend it.

Birthday Boy

I made this for my Grandson who will be 4 on 29h November.
It's a bit different from my usual style and I enjoyed the challenge.

I used components from a set I got from Donna over at Donna's Den of Crafts.
They were perfect for my 4 year old grandson. I am always racking my brain, (what bit I have), for boys cards and these elements are just the job I reckon!
The paper is a single sheet I got at Monk's Den craft shop in Ashby-de-la-Zouch a couple of weeks ago.
I'll have to keep an eye out for more 'coz I like it.

The '4' was cut with my Sizzix alphabet. The circles were punched out.
The CS is Bazzil as usual!

I'm quite pleased with this card. It didn't take me ages like they usually do, which was a bonus.
Well, that's all from me today. I've been with Mum all morning at a Wiltshire Farm Foods tasting session in the complex where she lives.
I thought it worth attending as Mum needs something like this. She isn't eating properly since she moved in.
She had to change to an electric cooker as there is no gas there. At 90 years old, it's a bit much for her to take on board and consequently, isn't cooking herself a proper meal now.
Anyway, she likes these ready meals and they are being delivered tomorrow. I ordered her 2 week's worth to see how she gets on with them. I got home at about 2pm and after doing some shopping and watching my son put a flat pack wardrobe together, the day has vanished!
OKAY, I've bored you enough, I'm off.
Thanks for stopping by and I WILL catch up with you very soon!

MTSC47

Well, this is my second week as Mercy's November Muse and I'm having a ball.
I want November to last forever! Ha Ha
Here is this week's amazing sketch.
(Mercy's sketches are so pretty, they could almost make a card on their own)!

And here is my sample........

My card this week has one or two 'can't remembers' in it. I can't remember where I bought the DP. I can't remember where I bought 'Daisy'. BUT! I CAN remember I coloured her with Copics and the flowers I've had forever and are from a craft shop in Buxton (that sadly, has now closed down). The labels on the little jar says 'Scrap Pack, follow your imagination'. Hmmm. The sentiment is from a set called 'Flowers of Happiness' by There She Goes and stamped with Brilliance Coffee Bean ink. I filled the flower centers with Stickles 'Waterfall'. The base card is SU Bashful Blue. I even distressed the edges of the DP! WOW! Aren't I BRAVE!
So, I'm not doing too badly if I can still remember more than I forget, am I! Ha Ha!

Well I hope you liked my sample and that you will play along with us.
Please use Mr. Linky on Mercy's blog so we can get to see your creations easily.
If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword MTSC47.

Be sure to visit the resident Muses blogs and see their fabulous samples. You'll be in for a treat.

Is that for ME?

It took me AGES to find a site that hadn't sold out of this little cutey!!
Isn't he/she gorgeous!! I finally got it from the 'The Secret Crafter'.
It's a Gillian Roberts clear stamp called,  funnily enough, Bear and Robin.
The DP is my My Mind's Eye. Is that right Jackie?
(Jackie gave me some fabulous sparkly MME papers, when she came over for a day's crafting on Tuesday).
It's not white, more ivory or cream, so I've used Ivory linen card for the image.
Do you like my home-made Poinsettia? Well it's a punch actually, but I did the veins and coloured them with  a gold sparkly Sakura pen. Added a gold brad in the middle.
I glittered the 'fur' round his hat with Glamour Dust.
The ribbon is a deep ruby red IRL, but my monitor is pants and doesn't show the true colour!
Coloured with Copics and stamped onto Spellbinders labels 4. LOVE these.

Off to tidy my craft room. A stick of dynamite should do it.

Back soon!
Viv xxx

And the winner is.....

ME!! Whey Hey!! After being so upset at deleting my Christmas card album on SCS, I got an e-mail telling me I'd won Copic Colour Challenge #37!! THAT cheered me up pretty quick.
I chose these two Kraftin' Kimmie stamps..... Daisy Doodle, the cutest puppy out there and Maxwell the laid back mouse.

I also thought I'd show you a card I literally THREW together, just to try out a new stamp I got at 'The Craft Shop' in Congleton. A fabulous shop that MUST be visited if you're in that neck of the woods!
Are the flowers Gerberas? I'm not at all well up on anything botanical. I'm good at weeds, but that's about all!

Coloured with Copics and the frame was sponged with Memento Spiced Marmalade.
I cut one of the flowers out and popped it onto foam pads for a bit of interest.
It's all very dark and dramatic isn't it. Maybe a white base card next time. What do you think?

How stupid am I !!!

Don't answer that!!!
I went into SCS last night, as I had some comments on my latest cards. MTSC46 and my latest blue ones amongst them.
When I looked at the comments, there was one that noticed I'd posted an anniversary twice.
(I'd inadvertently uploaded it into the Christmas album along with the correct ones).
As you do...I went into my Christmas album to delete the rogue card.....
only I deleted THE WHOLE CHRISTMAS ALBUM INSTEAD!!! *sob*.
I now have to go in and upload all my Christmas cards all over again. I'm as sick as a parrot!
Boo hoo.

So that this post isn't ALL doom and gloom, Here's the other two MTSC46 cards that I did, 'coz I couldn't stop making them.......

Off to spend hours uploading to SCS now!

Wednesday 4 November 2009

I'm getting blue this Christmas...

..with the colours on these cards! Ha Ha.

My good friend Jackie came over yesterday for a crafting sesh.
We took in a trip to my local(ish) craft shop in Poynton and bought an item or two, as you do.
One of the items I got was a pair of snowflakes clear stamps by Papermania.
(You can see one of them on the first card).
I used SU Bashful Blue CS and embossed white card with the Cuttlebug Fleur-de-Lis embossing folder, mounting it onto silver mirri card.  I stamped the 'snowflake/bauble with SU Bashful Blue.
It's mounted on the inverted scallop Nestie Jackie bought at Poynton and I nabbed to make this card. I wasn't sure about this style of Nestie until I tried it out, now I want it! Doh!
The greeting is framed with one of my Nestie label thingies. Can't remember the name of it for the minute..

This gorgeous little girl belongs to my best mate Pam. She did tell me what the stamp was, but as usual, my brain cell has hibernated and I've forgotten.
(I stamped her while were all on holiday in Burnham).
I framed her with a Nestie labels 4. SEE! I CAN remember SOME things! Ha Ha
She's coloured with Promarkers. Well only one Promarker actually. I glittered up the snowflakes in the image with silver Glamour Dust. As with the first card, I've mounted her on a piece of white card, embossed with a Cuttlebug Snowflake folder, (Nabbed off Jackie) and dabbed with SU Bashful Blue ink to make the snowflakes pop, then mounted onto silver mirri card.

Going to do more blue card, 'coz the colours are so wintry and cool.
Hope you like them as much as I do. Please let me know. I love your comments.

Thanks for your visit today.

Peachy Keen Challenge #15

WHAT a week and it's only Tuesday!!!!!!
Firstly I'm chosen to be on the new DT for 'Card for Men', then I have my début as Mercy's November Guest Muse and now it's time for another Peachy Keen Challenge. Whoo Hoo, WHAT a ride!
Am I lucky or WHAT!

OK, let's crack on with the latest Peachy Keen Challenge.

This week we have a sketch for you......
Create a card or project with the sketch, upload in Mr. Linky on the Peachy Keen blog and you are in with a chance of winning a great prize! You have until  midnight Sunday, CST on 15th November. BAGS of time!
You don't have to use Peachy Keen stamps to play along, in fact, you don't need to use a stamp at all.
While you're there, take a look at the fantastic creations the other DT members have come up with!

Here's mine.......

This is my very first easel card. (Can't seem to photograph the true colours on this one).
I saw one when a group of us visited Monk's Den craft shop in Ashby-de-la-Zouch. (Don'cha just LOVE that name)!
I used one of my favourite snowman, PK-306a. He's such a cutie! I also used the sentiment from the set, PK-311, 'Snowmany Thanks'.
Matted onto oval Nesties, which  keep the card upright.
The DP are Papermania's, 'Home for Christmas'.
I've used red gems for holly berries around the 'wreath'. (Created with a McGill punch called 'Pine').
It's almost identical to the MS Branch punch!
The red ribbon is a lot more vibrant IRL. Can't get a decent photo of this card and it's driving me mad!
The instructions for this card can be found here. Posted by the SCS hostess. Lynn in St Louis.
Remember, if you post to SCS, please use the keywords PKS or peachy keen stamps. For SNR it's pks or peachykeenstamps.

Have a fabulous Tuesday....I AM!

Viv xx

I have exciting news about MTSC #46!!!!

As if yesterday's news wasn't enough.....I'm now able to tell you, Mercy Kerin has asked me to be her November Muse!!!
To say I was delighted to accept would be the understatement of the year!!  It's a great pleasure to be working with Mercy and the other Muses again. They are an incredible group of enablers.
(Mercy's sketch challenges are amongst the best on the net and not to be missed).

As Guest Muse, I'm kicking off this exciting month with Sketch MTSC46, sponsored by Whimsie Doodles.
The image I've used is from a new set of digi stamps called 'Muffin for Christmas'. You can see it HERE.
The digi images are SO cute!! (In fact, I like them so much, I've made two more which I'll post soon).

So, here is Mercy's amazing sketch, MTSC46......

And here is my card...

Isn't that just the cutest Muffin!
My CS is Ivory linen with a band of plain dark green.
I coloured the tree with Copics. (Not a bad match that green)!
The ribbon is from my stash as are the little red gems.
The greeting, (which I think is hilarious), is part of the set, coloured on the PC to match.
I simulated the 3 dots on the sketch, with the holes off the Fiskars Threading Water border punch.
I used gold Glamour Dust on the star on top of the tree.

I hope you like my début card and recommend you go look at the amazing samples by the other fabulous Muses.......You will not be disappointed! They are the BEST!

I'm  looking forward to working with you ladies!

Copic Colour Challenge #37

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! A new week and lots happening.
Firstly, I made this for the Copic ColourChallenge #37 .

you have to use R20, YG06 and E33.
Flowers are  R20, blouse is YG06 and  hair's highlights are E33.
I used SU DSP in Old Olive, matted onto lime green Bazzil cardstock.
SU Rose Red ribbon and a Nestie Flourish stencilled with  pale pink to match the R20.
The frame she's in is a Nestability's Labels 4.

I love this image. She's a Sarah Kay stamp and called 'Rose's Garden'.

Well I've got a busy week this week....
Today I'm taking Hubby to the doctors for a routine appointment, putting Mum's hair in rollers, (her hairdresser is on holiday).
Tuesday, something special I can't tell you about yet, plus my latest sample card for Peachy Keen will be posted and the Chiropodist is coming on his usual monthly visit.
Wednesday, taking Mum out to lunch after taking Harvey back to the vet's to get his ear checked.
(It's MUCH better now).
Thursday, my car goes back to the Fiat dealer to get the recall sorted out, so I'll be housebound all day
and finally....
Friday, I have to take Alan for his 'Flu jab!
That's MY week sorted! LOL (It'll keep me out of mischief though, won't it).

Have a great week and thanks for stopping by, you know I love your visits.
